Hangzhou, considered by Marco Polo to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world, also became famous for its tea plantations and the teas from the area became highly sought after already during the Ming Dynasty.
One of the best green Chinese teas comes originally from the village "Drakbrunn" (Longjing, formerly written Lung ching) on the West Lake (Xihu) just outside Hangzhou. This tea is also grown there.
The flat leaves have been lightly roasted, and give a fresh, full-bodied taste. Fits extra well as an appertific. Water temperature should be around 80 degrees. As with many other green teas, the leaves are used at least three times, and the second time you refill water, it tastes best.
In China, people like to drink it by the glass. Then you brew directly into the glass, and fill with water as needed.

Ever since the previous milenium, when i tasted this tea for the first time in China in the plantation where it is grown, it has been my favorite. Tried so many others, but nothing matches this. I brew it in the mug, three or more times and the taste is always there.

Xihu Long Jing is my favorite tea now. It has a deep, full-bodied flavor.I switched from coffee to tea in the morning and I needed a tea that had the full-bodied texture of coffee to satisfy me. This tea went beyond that.

This is the tea I introduce friends to when they ask what would green tea taste like.
You can really get 3 brews out of it and 3 grams is enough for my 1 liter thermos I bring to work.
The taste is like meadow, just a little lighter on the 3rd brew.
