Chai - the spicy tradition

In India, there is a tradition of mixing tea with spices. It is called "Masala Chai", which simply means "Spiced tea". Here in the West, we found it was a bit too long an expression, so we shortened it to chai, which only means ... tea! There is no exact recipe for chai, and each region and family has its own preferences.

Making your own chai with all the spices is a wonderful experience. A cinnamon stick, cardamom, a few slices of fresh ginger and a few cloves are simmered for a few minutes, before the tea leaves are added. But that's not always enough time to make everything "from scratch". Then it can be handy to have a chai that is ready to brew. Here we have collected our various spicy tea varieties, even if not all of them have the word chai in the name.
