Assam – the worlds largerst tea region

There are around 1500 tea estates in the Assam tea growing region in the northeast corner of India. When the Brittish searched for land suitable for growing tea, they found the right conditions here around the Brahmaputra river. As it turned out, this is the only area besides southern China with native tea plants.
Assam teas are know to have a strong malty flavor, and is often used in "breakfast blends".
