Description / Grusinien Wild Extra

This wild tea is produced in Georgia, which in the context of tea is still called Grusinia. When conditions for tea cultivation were good, tea makers were brought from China to start tea cultivation here. Georgian tea production has always been focused on the Russian/Soviet market with large-leafed black teas suitable for brewing in samovars. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the main market disappeared. So less tea is grown than before, but the tradition lives on.

Hand-picked and processed in the old-fashioned way, this tea is somewhat reminiscent of Chinese Keemun teas. Can be steeped for quite a long time without becoming bitter.

A lot of flavor but not strange in any way. This is what I think a tea should taste like.

This is one of the better Georgian teas I've bought and drunk outside of Georgia. Perfect for samovar brewing and a second brew if you so desire.
