Description / Maharadja Chai ™

It is an Indian tradition to season tea with spices which is then drunk with milk. It is called masala chai , and roughly means spicy tea. In recent times, chai, at least in the Western world, has become a synonym for spicy tea.
Pu'er tea, green and white tea together with a royal spice mixture has been supplemented with licorice root which gives the whole thing a slightly sweet taste. Without a doubt one of our most popular teas, and it's easy to see why.
Maharadja Chai is spicy with a sweet and long aftertaste.

Ingredients Pu'er-tea, green tea, anise, white tea, licorice root, fennel, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.
Dose 3-4 gram(ca 2 tsk) / 2 dl
Water temperature 90-95 °C
Steeping time 8-10 min
Tips Lägg två rågade matskedar Maharadja Chai i en kastrull. Tillsätt cirka 6 dl mjölk. Koka upp, stäng av värmen och låt dra 10 minuter. Otroligt värmande efter en dag i kylan!

One of the happy surprises of Christmas! I drink it both hot and cold, with milk, but not with the whole mug of milk. Can think that in the cold mode, the tea comes even more to its right, due to the spice mixture. I think this tea should be tried, because it is clearly so very OUTSTANDING good!

Elegance over brutality

I probably should have thought more when I ordered this tea. Much too provocative for my taste, on the other hand, one cannot make an opinion without having tasted it. Should I now give the tea stars in relation to the quality of the tea, I will probably not be completely fair, as the quality is probably quite ok if that is the taste you are looking for. However, I am asked to give a rating, which is completely subjective. So let me just say that I prefer elegance to brutality.

Maharadja Chai is wonderfully beautiful when dry. Licorice root is one of the spices and unfortunately it drowns out the other spices and all three imaginatively intertwined base teas. Licorice root is good, but too bad about all the other ingredients.
