Description / Tie Guan Yin Organic
Hard-rolled, almost glossy small clusters of large, flower-scented tea leaves. It is a tea that you need some time to enjoy, and a couple of brew rounds just for the leaves to have time to open. This is perhaps China's most famous oolong tea, here in organic form. Oolong here means that it is semi-oxidized, so it ends up somewhere between black and green tea. The taste is complex and rich, with a markedly floral touch.
As icing on the cake, of course, there is also a story behind the name. A poor farmer cared for the otherwise rather dilapidated temple, dedicated to the Goddess of Grace (of iron), Tie Guan Yin. One night the goddess came to the farmer in a dream, thanked him for his hard work, and told him that he would find a reward behind the temple. When he got there, he found a dilute plant. It grew, and gave this amazing tea ...
