We have previously bought tea from Orange Valley, a tea plantation just southeast of Darjeeling City, most recently last year. This year we have also had the chance to buy a small batch. The plantation is located at just under 2000 meters altitude, and often wrapped in fog. It used to be called Bloomfield Tea Estate (when it was owned by the Bloomfield Tea Company). Its current name comes from the fact that the plantation is surrounded by orange trees.
Orange Valley delivers again this year - the flavor is freshly floral. Herbal and creamy with a touch of lemon. Slightly harsh, but not bitter, it also works to be drunk cold.
