In the tea context, Taiwan is still called by its old name Formosa. In particular, they are very good at making semi-oxidized teas, oolong (乌龙).
One of the most popular varieties is called Dong Ding (冻 顶), roughly "frozen (mountain) peak". It is only slightly oxidized. The hard-rolled leaves have a light and floral-fruity scent, and give a light brew and a slightly fruity taste.
Especially light oolongs are usually rolled into small balls. Then the scent is better preserved, and the leaves do not break so easily either. Of course, you should brew such hard-rolled oolong teas many times on the same leaf, as they unfold as time goes on. It is even customary to discard the first short brew. The Chinese call it "xi cha", ie washing the tea. Each brew tastes slightly different, and you may also need to adjust the time for each brew.
